The purpose of the SPRC committee

The SPRC has an important role supporting the morale of the staff and providing positive, helpful feedback. This committee is the cheerleading squad for the staff of the church. SPRC builds relationships between people by discerning what the pastor and staff need, what the church needs, and how to bring these needs together for ministry. SPRC strives to create a positive climate for open communication; to be prepared to listen for understanding, speak the truth in love, and practice forgiveness.

SPRC responsibilities include:

  • Working with congregation and staff to focus on the mission of the church
  • Hiring and training of lay professional and other staff
  • Revising job descriptions and writing evaluations for each staff member
  • Submitting wage and salary recommendations to the Administrative Council
  • Recommending personnel policies and procedures to the Administrative Council
  • Caring for staff and their family members in times of need, as liaisons, and providing a safe place for staff to share concerns
  • Conferring with individuals in the congregation as the need arises
  • Completing and filing annual reports with the District Superintendent at charge conference
  • Reviewing personnel and congregation handbooks annually and updating as needed

Caledonia SPRC meets the first Thursday of every month. All meetings are confidential.
